The Stefanus Prize
The Stefanus Prize is awarded every second year to someone who has made an outstanding contribution to promote Freedom of Religion and Belief (FoRB) in particular, and Human Rights in general. It was first established by Stefanus Alliance International, Norway branch, in 2005. The Prize consists of € 10,000 and the ceremony will be held in Oslo, Norway.

Criterias for the Stefanus Prize recipient

is a bold advocate for Freedom of Religion or Belief as a fundamental Human Right for everyone, regardless of religious affiliation.

has shown a genuine commitment to promote this right and defend and support those who are discriminated, suppressed and persecuted for their faith or belief.

can not currently receive financial funds from the Stefanus Alliance.
The Stefanus Prize Committee
The winner of the Stefanus Prize is chosen by an independent committee, established by the Stefanus Alliance, elected by the Norwegian Board. The committee has mandate to choose the Stefanus Prize winner.
